6 Great Ways to Stay Cool While You’re Pregnant

Posted by on

Summer is in full swing, and while there’s plenty of fun in the sun to be had, the heat can be particularly difficult for moms-to-be. Having to deal with morning sickness, a growing tummy, and the hot sun is enough to make anyone feel like she is melting. Here are some easy ways to keep your cool and beat the heat this summer.

Smart cool down

Whether you’re at home or on the go, using ice or a wet cloth is a quick and obvious way to cool yourself down. However, what most people don’t realize is that concentrating on particular parts of your body can cool you down much faster. Putting ice on the inside of your wrists, the back of your neck, or your ankles will have an instant cooling effect on your entire body, which won’t leave you drenched.

Summer style

What you wear can have an enormous effect on how you feel during the hot summer days. Try to wear light colored clothing made of cotton or linen, which help to reflect the sun’s scorching rays and let air circulate. Wide brimmed hats are a timeless summer accessory and are a great chic and practical addition to your wardrobe. Not only do they look great, but they’ll also protect you from the sun.

Take a shower or a waterless bath

Need instant relief from the heat? Take a cool shower. This is a great way to clean up and cool down off after a hot day (or right in the middle of one)!  If you don’t have enough time for a shower, take a waterless bath. The bathtub is one of the coldest surfaces of a house, and lying inside can be a pleasant way to cool off. Grab a book and snack, sit back, and relax!

Invest in a fan

A small, portable battery powered fan is the perfect item to throw in your summer bag for an easy, on-the-go solution to summer heat. They are quiet enough to be used almost anywhere, and can provide miraculous relief no matter where you are.

Eat the right stuff

Getting enough water is important for anyone on a hot summer day, but it is especially important when you are pregnant. In addition to keeping you hydrated, water helps regulate your body temperature and prevents you from getting overheated. Fresh fruit or a chilled vegetable salad are other great ways to hydrate and cool down. Even better, grab a cold Bundle Organics juice for healthy and nutritious hydration for you and your bump!

Scented spray bottles

Fill a spray bottle with two parts rose water and one part tap water and keep it in the fridge. Spray it on your face and your pulse points to cool down and give yourself some light perfume therapy.
